Also the idea of charging is also relatively recent. Those who heal in the many ways healing was possible were and are always an important part of our society. It is a shame that money even comes into it. Personally I heal people when they need it and I love them enough to do so. It's a personal thing, like music, food and friendship. For my level 1, I did errands for the reiki master in exchange for the teachings and attunement. Most reiki people I know accept barter also.
